Chunking Sounds in Words

0

Posted by cbisby | Posted in Uncategorized | Posted on July 21, 2016

In reading “Daily Five” we have been “working on words”. Chunking sounds in words by reading onset and rime. When reading saying each individual sound causes meaning to be lost so we have been learning to read onset and rime, for example, sh-eep instead of s-h-e-e-p and  cl-ick instead of c-l-i-c-k.

Discuss with you parent/s or a friend the chunking sounds you know and chunking sounds with unusual spellings.

Click on the pictures below to play some onset and rime games! Can you put the words that you read in a sentence?
