This term we are learning about the weather. In year two we will learn that
  • Weather patterns affect the way that we live
  • Meteorology is a science
  • We can collect information about the weather interprting clouds
  • We can collect information about the weather and represent this information on a graph
  • Climate is the type of weather a place experiences over a long period of time usually a year
  • Climate and weather have a major impact of lifestyles and the environment
  • Houses are designed to reflect different climates and weather conditions
  • Extreme weather can produce a natural disaster
We can look at clouds and use the clouds to predict the weather.
Refer to the images below and look outside and predict what the weather will be like. Take the charts from the back wall and have look up 🙂 Talk with a friend about the clouds and predict the weather today.

This Term our topic is: Environmental Crusaders.
WE WILL:
* Investigate ways that we can care for the environment
* Identify the effects that natural resource use has on the world around us
* Investigate the benefits of reducing, reusing and recycling
* Explore the causes of air, water and land pollution
* Explore how materials can be composted, thrown out or reused
* Identify ways that we can reduce our waste
* Recognise the impact that rubbish and waste has on the environment and the effect that it has on the world around us
* Consider resources that are abundant and resources that are becoming scarce
* Understand the need for balance between our use of natural resources and their replenishment

This week the children in 2CB did an amazing job using Educreations to show how much they know about shapes! We hope to do the same at the end of our unit on shapes to show how much more they have learnt. Please have a look at the Educreations below. Educreations is an App and it enables children to create slide shows quickly. Their task was to take photos of shapes in the school environment and identify their properties. Look at their amazing creations.
